Photography Project Judging Tips

- Is the picture clear rather than blurry, indicating that the camera was properly focussed?

- Is the main subject in focus?

- Is the lighting right? Is there too much, too little or any unwanted shadowing?

- Does the lighting give the desired effect to the photo? Is it natural looking?

- Is the main subject easy to identify? Is the main subject well placed within the picture?

- Does the picture have some meaning?

- Is the direction of the picture appropriate to the subject? Tall subjects look better with a vertical picture, while wider subjects will
look better in a horizontal picture.

- If there is contrast, does it compliment the photo?

- Are the colours and subject appropriate?

- Is the composition of the picture the best for that subject?

- Was the photographer the right distance from the subject?

- Does the picture have good perspective, with the subject looking accurate and the proper size?

- Is the picture well mounted for display?
